Sask Stock Growers approve drought-related resolutions

The Saskatchewan Stock Growers association has passed several important drought-related resolutions at the recent semi-annual meeting.

President Kelcy Elford says producers would like to see livestock price insurance cost-shared with government, similar to crop insurance.

Elford says producers are also asking for an improved forage insurance program, using satellite based information.

He is also asking for grid power to be included as an eligible expense for water project funding like deep wells and shallow buried pipelines.

The Stock Growers also want speedy registration from the Canadian Food Agency to improve access to U.S. livestock feed products.
