Motorists reminded to keep caution around farm equipment during seeding

The Saskatchewan government is warning motorists to watch out for slow moving farm machinery during the spring seeding season.

Add in the fact that construction season is picking up across the province, drivers will need to take extra caution while commuting or travelling over the next couple months.

Provincial crops analyst Cory Jacob says it is important for motorists to be patient and avoid any collisions. He adds motorists should also slow down when passing emergency or service vehicles.

“We advise them to slow down to the appropriate speed and to be respectful because the emergency vehicles are helping out someone in need,” explained Jacob.

Something else travelers will want to be wary of is the amount of dust flying around in rural Saskatchewan at this time of the year. The dry conditions could affect visibility on the roads at times.

“You could get yourself in a situation where you can’t see very well. A lack of vision can put you into a bad situation, so take caution around farm equipment.

Jacob also points out the law requires motorists to slow down to 60 kilometers per hour when passing emergency and service vehicles at the side of the road with flashing lights.
