An investigation is underway after a small plane with three men on board crashed near the community of Irvine, Alberta which is 35 kilometers east of Medicine Hat near the Alberta/Saskatchewan border.
The plane took off from the Medicine Hat airport Saturday night around 10:15 heading to Moose Jaw, but it never arrived.
The plane was located early Sunday morning by some military personnel who were assisting with the search. There were no survivors.
RCMP and the Transportation Safety Board are investigating. At this time, the cause of the crash is not known. The age and hometowns of the dead have not been released, but one of the dead is 26 year old Justin Filteau of Moose Jaw. He played football with both the University of Saskatchewan Huskies and the Saskatoon Hilltops.

Filteau was also involved Football Saskatchewan’s “Be More Than a Bystander program”, which encourages youth to speak up about violence against women.
