The University of Regina will be handing out an honorary degree to current Rider and former NFL’er Jon Ryan this week during convocation ceremonies as he is recognized for a lot of the charity work he has done for Regina.
The 37-year-old says giving back is a lesson he learned early in life.
“It’s in me to give back is something I’ve been taught during my childhood. ” Ryan said. “We have taken so much from the city that its impossible to return so its great to be able to help out in any way I can.”
Ryan will also be joined by his mother, Barb, on stage this week which he says will be a thrill.
“She has been my biggest inspiration through everything from football to charity work and relationships.” Ryan said. “She is the mother you wish everyone had,”
Spring convocation at the U of R goes Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the Conexus Arts Centre.
