Less than a month after car accident, Dan Clark practices with the Riders

Dan Clark admits he thought his football career was over.

Twenty-six days after he was thrown from his vehicle when it rolled over while on his way back to Regina following a community event in Cudworth, Clark was back on the practice field Sunday.

“I didn’t think I could do it and there was a lot of doubt that crawled through my mind.” Clark said.  “Laying in a hospital bed wasn’t the easiest, but being able to go home less than 24 hours in a hospital, I owe a lot of thank yous.

Clark said it was great to be back on the field.

“It’s tough, but there is a lot of support in that room having those meetings.” Clark said. “I have a lot of rust to shake off.”

Whether or not Clark plays at home Thursday against Winnipeg isn’t known, but head coach Craig Dickenson says if he is healthy, he will try to get him into the lineup.

The Riders will practice Monday and Tuesday in Saskatoon before packing up and returning to Regina.
