NDP renewing call for Saskatchewan government to offer universal coverage for Mifegymiso

A decision by the Manitoba government in which they have announced they will provide universal access to the abortion pill known as Mifegymiso (miff-a-juh-meeso) means Saskatchewan is now the lone province that does doesn’t. The Saskatchewan NDP says that must change.

In a release, health critic Vicki Mowat says the government has stalled on providing coverage for this drug at every turn despite evidence that its cheaper and safer. Mowat says the government isn’t being a leader on this, but instead of fallen way behind.

She says the government is guilty of failing women as there is no excuse for this level of neglect and mismanagement.

It is expected the health minister will be making an announcement on the drug later this week.
