Jurassic Park comes to Regina for NBA Finals

It may have taken a while, but Regina is getting on the Toronto Raptors bandwagon as the NBA team tries to chase down its first ever league championship.

On Wednesday, it was announced City Square Plaza in downtown Regina will be turned into Jurassic Park as basketball fans can come out to watch Game 4 and 5 of the series against the Golden State Warriors on Friday and Monday with a 14 foot screen being set up.

The Jurassic Park name comes from the group of Raptors fans that converge on Maple Leaf Square on game-day to cheer their team on.

Regina Mayor Michael Fougere does not know how many people will show up, but he would like to see one thing.

“We would like to fill the Plaza up, but we don’t know.” Fougere said. “Hopefully, we will have many come to watch the game.  We have seen how many people are caught up in the team and we’re hoping they come out.”

If successful. Fougere was asked if the city might do this for Rider road games.  He says it is something they might have to look into.

Game time each night is 7 pm, with activities starting at 6.  There is no charge.
