The Saskatchewan NDP wants to hear from you if you have a role in the provincial education system.
Education critic Carla Beck announced the Brighter Future Education Survey on Tuesday. The survey has questions about what is being experienced in classrooms across the province.
“We know that our classrooms are increasingly complex and under-resourced, and that’s taking a toll on staff, students and parents all across the province,” said Beck. “We want to hear from people what they’re experiencing and what Saskatchewan should be doing to build a brighter future for all of us.”
She adds it is hoped the answers generated from the survey will help shape the conversation about, and future of, education in Saskatchewan.
Education minister Gord Wyant responded with a statement saying they used their own survey with several stakeholders including the Saskatchewan School Boards Association and FSIN where nearly 9,000 responses with 40,000 comments were received. The ministry is now analyzing that feedback to develop a framework for the future of education.
Wyant also notes that while encouraged by this move, just two months ago leader Ryan Meili and Beck criticized the government’s survey and said there was no need for another saying educational policy in Saskatchewan should not be decided by a public survey of that nature.
