St. Catherine Community School in Regina’s east end has received 20 bikes from CKRM’s sister station “104.9 The WOLF”.
Regina’s Rock Station ran a Hot Wheels Campaign after seven bikes were stolen from the school on Tuesday, as they were being kept as prizes for students for the end of the year.
Principal Paul Tourigny said this shows how a community can come together.
“We certainly don’t judge people who take things, that’s not our place to do that, but I think it was a good lesson for the kids that way,” Tourigny said. “We always say at our school ‘we’re called to serve, and it shows community serving people, so it was a nice example.”
Thanks to the Wolfpack, we were able to bring 20 bikes to St. Catherine Community School for Operation Hot Wheels! Thanks to 1-800 GOT JUNK for the helping hand!

Tourigny said students are excited they will still be able to win a bike.
“We are giving away tickets that they can earn, and then there’s drums just outside my office they put them in,” Tourigny said. “They’re excited, who wouldn’t be excited to win a bike?”
Tourigny said one positive from this experience is the fact it has brought attention to the Bike for Kids program.
“Now with the theft, it’s an unfortunate thing, but I think it kind of renewed some attention, so maybe that’s a positive part if there is one.”
After news of the theft spread across the city, several groups and companies came together to donate bikes to the school.
