The latest crop report says many areas of Saskatchewan need rain for proper development.
Provincial crops analyst Cory Jacob says parts of the southeast had large amounts of rain with Weyburn recording up to 69 millimeters and Broadview 25 millimeters.
He adds Lloydminster had 40 millimeters.
But he says most of the grainbelt needs rain because of extremely dry weather.
Jacob says areas around Gravelbourg, Kyle, Bethune, Craik, Outlook and Kindersley remain very dry, having less than 25 millimeters of rain since April.
Jacob says germination is patchy and crop growth is delayed with development behind normal due to lack of moisture.
The majority of crop loss this past week was due to frost, winds, dryness and insects like flea beetles, cutworms and grasshoppers.
