A football tournament for Special Olympics Saskatchewan takes over Mosaic Stadium

The second annual Queen City Blitz flag football tournament for Special Olympics Saskatchewan goes Saturday.

Teams will get to play games on the turf at Mosaic Stadium.

Jeff Zerr with Special Olympics Saskatchewan says it’s an important day for the organization. “So across the province, we have 1,200 athletes. So it goes a long way, these events, to supporting them. It provides low to no cost programming to them, so it is definitely a big help.”

Zerr  says each team gets a handful of games. “So throughout the day each team is going to get a three game guarantee, they’re going to get a free lunch, we have tons of prizes and swag giveaways and it’s just going to be a great day a football. So if you are interested in coming down, watching and meeting some of our athletes, stop by Mosaic Stadium.”

Everything starts at 9:30 Saturday morning, with the finals set for 2:00 p.m.
