The Riders have placed starting QB Zach Collaros on the 6-game injured list.
Collaros took a shot in the head from Ticats linebacker Simoni Lawrence on the third offensive play Thursday. Collaros did not return to the game.
“It was a team decision,” says Head Coach Craig Dickenson. “It was management and the player and the medical staff. (Collaros) understands. I think he wants to take the emotion out of it also, because he’s frustrated. And certainly he was disappointed he couldn’t finish the game.”
The Riders signed former Rider Bryan Bennett to give them three QBs on the roster. He wasn’t the only player they tried to sign.
“We kicked the tires on a lot of people. And there’s a thing called a ‘salary cap’. So everybody who’s asking about this name and that name, trust me, we called every single one of those guys,” says Dickenson
At practice Sunday Cody Fajardo took reps with the first team. But it’s not sure that he’ll be the starter. Coach Craig Dickenson says he will decide after seeing Fajardo and Isaac Harker in practice on Monday.
Right Guard Dariusz Bladek is not practicing after suffering a knee injury in Hamilton. Dakoda Shepley was in at guard with the first team. But that is also in doubt. Dickenson says Shepley hasn’t proved he should be the next man up.
