CFL suspends Simoni Lawrence two games for hit on Riders QB Zach Collaros

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will be without Simoni Lawrence for the next two games.

The CFL has announced a two game suspension for Lawrence’s hit to the head of Saskatchewan Roughriders QB Zach Collaros early in Thursday’s season opening loss in Hamilton.

The Riders have placed Collaros on the six game injured list, with coach Craig Dickenson saying right now they have no timeline of a possible return.

“This dangerous and reckless hit has no place in our game,” CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie said.

A grade two penalty for roughing the passer was assessed on Lawrence, which new to this year comes with a 25 yard penalty.
