A group of some of Regina’s most well-known people got together once again to perform as the garage band.
Murad Al-Katib, John Hopkins, Mayor Michael Fougere, Steve Compton and others performed from the roof-top of the Fat Badger for a large downtown crowd on the Scarth Street plaza.
Hopkins said he got the idea from the Beatles, who did it 50 years ago.
“We’re trying to draw some awareness to the concert that we’re going to do in September to try and raise money for a new CT scanner at the cancer centre here in Regina, and I think it went great; it was a lot of fun.”

Hopkins said the new scanner would be an important addition.
“We have a CT scanner here in Regina right now at the cancer, but we need one that’s a newer one,” Hopkins said. “This one would be a 4D one, so it’ll take into account when people are breathing, that type of thing, and it will really zero in on the cancer cells and blast them with radiation, and in many cases it will help cure cancer. In some cases, not all cases of course, but some cases.”
Hopkins said the new scanner comes with a $1.5 million price tag.
“It’s not a small amount of money to try and raise, but we’ll do our best that we can and raise as much as we can towards that CT scanner, and hopefully we can raise it all.”
Hopkins adds people who wish to donate to their cause can do so by contacting the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan.
