Wascana Park will once again be the place to be in Regina on Canada Day

It will be a busy day in Regina on Monday as Canada celebrates its 152nd birthday.

The Riders will battle the Argonauts at 5 PM with a big crowd expected at Mosaic Stadium with some Canada Day festivities happening including the unveiling of the biggest Canadian flag in sports and a patriotic oath being taken.

The place to be though will be Wascana Park as organizers have once again planned a full day of activities for people of all ages to enjoy.

Canada Day committee spokesperson Patty Humphreys doesn’t know how many people will be in the park since they come and go all day, but she is expecting around 30,000 to take in all or part of the day.

Humphreys says fireworks will be shot off from Willow Island at 10:30 with traffic restrictions in place.  Even though the Riders are playing, Humphreys isn’t expecting the game to impact the day in the park.

‘With the game starting at 5, it gives people who are going a lot of time to come to the park for a couple of hours before going to the game.” Humphreys said. “Some who go will probably even come back for the fireworks since the game ends around 8
