The next Saskatchewan civic election isn’t until next fall, but voters in Canora will be going to the polls this year.

A by-election will be held, after mayor Gina Rakochy resigned and retired effective June 30th.

The earliest possible date for a by-election is August 31st.

Sheldon Derkatch is currently the acting mayor.

The town also announced the retirement of their senior public works operator David Wasyliw, effective July 31st.
