Fake American money has been circulating in Estevan, and the Estevan Police Service is asking residents to keep an eye out for the counterfeit bills.

EPS said they have been receiving an alarming amount of counterfeit U.S. currency being passed around in the city.

Businesses in the community have been handed $20 and $100 bills.

Police say the fakes are colorized but they do not have any reflective elements to them.

If businesses or customers suspect they have received fake currency, they are asked to call the police or consult with a bank representative to determine if the bill is legitimate or counterfeit.
