People south of Regina may notice some flares throughout Wednesday and Thursday.
SaskEnergy will be conducting controlled natural gas flares at its natural gas storage facility off Highway 1 West.
The company says this is necessary to perform operational upgrades to the system and remove excess gas from the facilities before work is done.
SaskEnergy says this also reduces the carbon footprint of the vented natural gas by 85 percent.
Residents may see a 20-foot flame coming from the 40-foot stack temporarily attached to the infrastructure at the facility starting at 9:00 a.m. both days.
Areas around the flame will be supervised and natural gas service to the area will not be affected.
