Country Thunder is ready to roll this weekend with a star studded lineup.
Craven will be hosting acts like Jake Owen, Tim McGraw and Chris Stapleton Thursday through Sunday.
Marketing Director Gerry Krochak says most of the buzz this year is stemming from Chris Stapleton’s performance on Sunday night. “One of only two Canadian shows this year and his only Western Canadian appearance. He has basically won every award this industry offers. The excitement, you can feel it certainly as people are coming in and campers are coming in. It’s been the talk of the town.”
Krochak adds this year’s festival will include more than just music. He says there are new features this year including a beach party, volleyball tournament and a slingshot ride. “This thing goes 260 feet straight up and 160 kilometres an hour. I know there will be some thrill seekers out here and I’m sure it will be a huge attraction.”
Krochak says people planning on attending are expected to have fun, but they also need to remember a few rules. “The clear bag policy as you’re entering the grandstand and the main concert bowl. People dealt with that very easily last year and you know bring a great attitude and get ready for another year of fun.”

Krochak adds there are still tickets available for people interested in getting last minute tickets.
