The Ministry of Corrections and Policing says five inmates suffered non-life threatening injuries after an armed brawl between gang members broke out, at the Regina Provincial Correctional Centre this past Friday.
A ministry spokesperson also said some of the inmates injuries consisted of stab wounds.
RCMP will now conduct an investigation looking into where weapons came from, how they were made and what actions can be taken to prevent a future similar incident.
The inmates injured have all been released from hospital and returned to the jail.
On Friday the jail was put into a lockdown after a what the ministry called a disturbance at the time.
