Playoff needed to determine SK men’s amateur golf championship

It took a little longer than expected, but Danny Klughart of Prince Albert is the 2019 Saskatchewan men’s amateur  golf champion.

Klughart, who shot a 6-under 66 in his final round to force a playoff with Eston’s Jehremy Hyde,  won the playoff with a par on the first playoff hole Friday.  The tournament had to be halted Thursday after the final round had been completed because of a storm that blew through Saskatoon causing some damage to the Saskatoon Golf and Country Club.

A playoff was also needed to determine 3rd place with Justin Wood of Unity defeating Roman Timmermann of Saskatoon by getting a birdie on the first playoff hole.

Klughart, who has won the last three tournaments he has entered, along with Hyde, Wood and Timmermann will be on Team Saskatchewan at the 2019 Canadian Amateur, which runs August 5-8 at Glen Harbour Golf Club in Nova Scotia.
