New figures released Thursday shows Saskatchewan had the highest increase in average weekly earnings in May, up 5.8 percent year-over-year.
This is ahead of the national increase of 3.4 percent.
The province says May’s average weekly earnings were$1,070.11, the second highest in the nation.
In a release Immigration and Career Training Minister Jeremy Harrison says this is very encouraging and the hard working people in the province benefit from the rise in wages, supporting a better quality of life.
Industries with the highest year-over-year earnings growth include mining, oil and gas up 24.5 percent, health care and social assistance up 14.3 percent, and arts, entertainment and recreation up 6.1 percent.
