A Correctional Service Canada vehicle was involved in a serious collision with a motorcycle near Whitewood on Wednesday which resulted in the death of the driver of the motorcycle.

At the time of the accident, which happened at the intersection of Highway 1 and 9, the CSC vehicle was carrying five staff and ten inmates who were being transported between federal facilities. None of the ten were injured with the five inmates being relocated to a secure facility until the transfer could continue.

The 62 year old driver of the motorcycle died from injuries sustained. His name is not being released.

The accident happened just before noon.
