Ottawa gives farmers more time to repay 2018 crop cash advances

The Federal government is giving farmers more time to pay back their 2018 crop cash advances.

The Trudeau government says the Stay of Default to March 31st 2020 will provide farmers with more time to repay outstanding 2018 advances and was made at the request of the program administrators.

The federal government recently increased the maximum loan limit for all farmers to one million dollars and the interest free portion to 500 thousand dollars for canola.

The changes are a result of farmers facing trade difficulties and lower prices.
