Idea to create additional parking at old Taylor Field site being rejected

An idea by Regina city councillor Gerry Flegel to create additional parking around Evraz Place by using the old Taylor Field site is being rejected.

City administration has written a report on the matter after Flegel asked if such an idea could work.

A report which goes to city council Monday night says the costs would be too much and there are risks to the existing transportation and parking plan currently in place.

While there are plans to develop the site, it has remained vacant since being demolished in 2017.

It will be a busy night for councillors and Mayor Fougere.  Other things up for discussion include talking about an application from U-Haul to make the former Sears Bargain Centre into a storage facility.  Right now, a market occupies that space with worries that current vendors will have to pack up should the application proceed.  council will also consider a plan to get railway crossings off the Ring Road which is something that frustrates many drivers now.

The meeting begins at 5:30.
