I love fruit. There, I said it. I know many of you (and most of my closest friends) all wonder how I’ve survived this long on what I eat. Truth is I eat lots of fruit and I love it, especially this time of year. What is summer without apricots, though. Question is, where are the apricots?
There are tons of peaches, plums, nectarines, grapes, watermelons, and terribly over priced cherries that even the Royal Family wouldn’t pay for. The apricots are scarce it seems. Or perhaps I’m just to late getting to the store in time and missing out.
Over the past month and a half I’ve had a whopping one bag of apricots that were awfully bitter and about as soft as 16th century dungeon door. Since then I’ve hardly seen them in the four main stores I rotate through. I can happily report that I found a few at Tom’s Independent last night, which was exciting. That has been the only place since early July I’ve seen them. A quick Google search indicates there are no global apricot shortages except for a poor crop near Kelowna and that’s it! So what is my problem?
If anybody has any leads on decently priced apricots I’m all ears! Feel free to email me at [email protected]
