A couple of weeks ago there was a story on the evening news stating that the wasp situation was about get worse. Considering wasps hadn’t really been that much of a problem thus far, I put it to the back of my mind. Whenever I hit the deck I always have a spray bottle full of water to spray any wasp that is encroaching my space. It usually seems to do the job.

Friday afternoon I was sitting on the deck playing with Max and out of the blue there were wasps everywhere. What a difference from the last time I enjoyed some time on the deck. That darn guy on the news nailed it! Considering I wanted to spend a lot of the long weekend on the deck I thought I’d better try to do something about the problem.

Saturday morning I went over to the hardware store to buy a couple of wasp traps. They were sold out. Looks like I’m not the only one with this problem. I then headed over to Dollarama which, fortunately, had about a dozen traps left, so I bought two.

By the time Saturday afternoon rolled around I had the two traps that I bought and two home made traps set up in the yard. I was going to show the wasps who the boss of our backyard really is.

Those darn things actually worked pretty well. We still had some wasps flying around the deck, but for the most part they were falling for that delicious Pepsi at the bottom of each trap. Yesterday I counted around 20 or more wasps in each trap. That’s about 80 that weren’t flying around looking for human flesh!

So, thank you to the inventor of the wasp trap and a shout out to Mother Nature who made the wasp dumb enough to not be able to find its way out of the aforementioned contraption!

You both made this weekend a little more enjoyable on the deck of the Lewis household.
