Cold, snowy and long winter expected in southern Saskatchewan

The Canadian Farmers Almanac is predicting a cold, snowy and long winter in southern Saskatchewan.

The editor of the 2020 edition of the Canadian Farmers Almanac, Peter Geiger, describes the winter as a “Polar Coaster”.

He also said the fall harvest weather will be less than ideal in Saskatchewan.

“We’re expecting a little bit cooler and wetter than normal fall,” Geiger said. “We’re talking about rain pretty much throughout September, but there’s inklings of rain well into October as well, so I think it’s going to be a little bit cooler and wetter,” said Geiger.

Geiger said the winter will be cold and long, with above average snowfall.

However he sees a wet spring with a hot and humid summer in 2020.
