The public will be asked questions about policing in the city.
The Regina Police Service is conducting its fifth Community Perceptions Public Survey with the help of Prairie Research Associates.
Manager of Strategic Services Amy Belfour says researchers will be randomly calling residents to ask questions in a variety of topics. “Whether that be public support for the Regina Police Service, perceptions of our professionalism and the trust and confidence in the Regina Police Service. We ask about citizens perception of fear and crime in their neighbourhood as well as the quality of service they receive from our organization. And then we do ask questions specifically about public information and social media.”
Belfour says the service uses the results to gauge the pulse of the community and look at how the service has changed over the years. “We do rely on the survey quite a bit for strategic planning, we use it a lot for internal training in terms of how we can improve and we also look at the results when we’re doing our business planning or conducting any initiatives in the community.”
She says researchers will be calling households at random throughout the city. “We want to make sure that we get equal representation from all areas of the city including different districts and different neighbourhoods. As well as equal representation of gender, ethnicity and age.”
Belfour says the researchers will identify themselves before asking you any questions.
RPS says about 426 surveys were complete in 2017 after researchers made thousands of calls.
The survey will run from September 5th to 30th.
