Longtime Regina athletic director Dick White has been inducted into the Canada West Hall of Fame, as his decades of service are being acknowledged as he has been named to the Canada West Hall of Fame.
White started at the U of R in 1981, starting as an administrative assistant before eventually taking over as director of athletics in 1995.
Over his time leading the department, White was instrumental in bringing varsity football to the university with a community partnership model that saw the junior Regina Rams join Canada West prior to the 1999 season. Under his leadership, the school also added varsity teams in cross country, women’s hockey, women’s soccer, swimming, and track and field.
After 34 years working at the University of Regina, White retired in 2014.
In 2018 he was honoured with the U SPORTS Austin-Matthews Award, recognizing his longtime service to university spot.
