RCMP arrest two youths armed in break and enter

Punnichy RCMP have arrested two suspects following a break and enter and theft at a residence.

Police first received the report at approximately 7:00 p.m. on September 18. A single officer was dispatched to the area and met the homeowner outside the residence.

Upon his arrival, the officer began investigating damages to the property and making sure the home was empty. During the search, the homeowner mentioned two firearms were missing and that the residence and vehicles were damaged by what looked like bullet holes.

The officer began inspecting the basement where he walked into a dark storage room and found two boys pointing loaded rifles directly at him. The police officer managed to back out of the room to get the homeowner to safety before requesting backup.

After negotiating with the youths from upstairs, he convinced them to drop their firearms before arresting them without incident. No one was injured from the incident. Police discovered three firearms.

The boys were handed a number of charges and are being held in custody until they appear in Provincial Youth Court on September 23 in Regina.
