Oxford House Society of Regina and Elizabeth Fry Society of Sask. receives provincial funding

Two agencies who help offenders reintegrate into the community are receiving a financial boost from Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Corrections and Policing.

The Elizabeth Fry Society of Saskatchewan will be getting $85,000 to provide support to offenders who have completed their sentence and the ministry is also renewing a contract with the Oxford House Society of Regina worth $60,000.

The Elizabeth Fry Society helps women offenders find safe and affordable housing, mental health and addictions support, pre-employment support and family re-unification support.

Oxford House Society of Regina provides housing and support for ministry clients who have recently completed an addictions program, have limited options to continue their recovery and are in need of stable housing.  Individuals will live in drug and alcohol free housing and be provided with support while they participate in recovery programming, employment, and educational programming.

“The Elizabeth Fry Society and Oxford House provide crucial prevention, intervention and support services to offenders,” Corrections and Policing Minister Christine Tell said in a release. “These CBOs deliver quality community justice programs to ministry clients and result in safer communities.”
