Accommodation review expected to show overcrowding at some Regina schools

An accommodation review is expected to show over crowding at certain schools around Regina.

Some schools are currently at capacity or over it, with a growth rate of two percent expected steadily over the next decade.

École Wascana Plains School, École Harbour Landing Elementary School and École Connaught Community School will all be more than 200 per cent over capacity, if the review holds true.

CUPE education workers are also walking a picket line outside the Regina Public School Board office, after a request to present worker concerns to the board was turned down.

Both CUPE locals 650 and 3766 have a strike mandate, and are currently at an impasse in the bargaining process.
