Police nab 295 impaired drivers around Saskatchewan in August spotlight

Saskatchewan Police forces caught 295 impaired drivers during an August spotlight.

Forty-six other motorists were handed roadside administrative suspensions.

Impaired driving remains the top cause of fatal crashes in the province.

SGI is asking citizens to also do their best when it comes to reporting potential impaired drivers.

If you see a driver you suspect is impaired, pull over and call 9-1-1 to report the impaired driver.

Provide as many details about the driver (description, name if known), vehicle (make, model, colour, plate number, direction headed) and suspicious behavior as possible.

More than 7,700 aggressive or speeding violations were recorded in August along with 880 tickets issued for cell phone use behind the wheel.

There was also 632 inappropriate or no seatbelt/child restraint offences.
