Sask. population grows past 1.174 million people

Saskatchewan’s population is inching closer to 1.2 million people.

New data from Statistics Canada indicates that as of July 1st, 2019, the province’s population was recorded at 1,174,462 people.

The provincial government says population numbers have grown in 53 consecutive quarters, rising more than 183,000 people during that time. The province grew by nearly 3,500 people in the second quarter of this year.

While the province had an increase of over 4,500 people from international migration and a natural increase from births minus deaths, over 2,700 people were recorded to have left the province.

Saskatchewan’s population in 2018 was around 1.162 million.
