Services at three of Saskatchewan’s main Crowns will be affected later this week if a planned strike by almost 4,500 employees goes ahead as planned by their union.
Unifor announced on the weekend a full-scale strike would occur on Friday if a new deal was not reached with the provincial government.
A “work-to-rule” campaign has been happening since Monday.
While SaskTel isn’t giving out many details at this time, they say a business continuity plan is in place with more to be released about customer impact should the strike happen.
SaskEnergy says customers should know those making general inquiries over the phone will not be able to as that line will be shut down, but you can leave a message or e-mail them with an answer coming as quickly as possible, Line and meter installations will not happen at new homes and businesses and there will be no construction work or alteratins performed.
The provincially-owned gas line also wants you to know all emergency services will continue to run as service technicians are declared as essential. SaskPower says the biggest impact will be felt with their customer service line as it may be slower than usual to get a response. Most of those represented by Unifor that work wtih SaskPower are in adminstrative support or in the call centre. Any outages will still be repaired as line technicians belong to another union.
