Coroner Updates Landrie Investigation

The Saskatchewan Coroners Service says Allan Landrie took his own life.

An autopsy was ordered as part the coroner’s investigation into the 72-year-old’s death.

Landrie was found Tuesday night on the main floor of a public area in Royal University Hospital three days after walking into the facility.

Police say a thorough search of RUH and the surrounding area involving officers, hospital security and search and rescue workers took place after Landrie was reported missing.

Police say he was last seen coming into the hospital on surveillance video at about 1:30 Saturday afternoon and was discovered at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Saskatoon Police and the Saskatchewan Health Authority are assisting the coroners’ service with the investigation.

Out of respect to families media normally does not report on suicides.

Due to the considerable attention surrounding this incident we felt as a news organization it was in the public interest to release this information.
