Sillinger’s son leads Tigers to 6-2 win over Pats

The son of Regina Pats royalty was at the Brandt Centre ice wearing the uniform of the Medicine Hat Tigers Friday night and he did not disappoint the many who came to see him play.

Cole Sillinger, the son of Mike, had two goals and an assist as the Tigers spanked the Pats 6-2 handing Regina its fourth straight loss dropping them to 1-4 on the season.   The 16 year old had played for the Tigers at the Brandt Centre before, but after a 78 point season with the Pat Canadians last season he is now in the WHL and is considered as one of the league’s top rookies.  His three points on Friday give him seven points in six games.

Carter Massier got the Pats off to a quick start when he snapped one past Garin Bjorklund just over a minute into the hockey game, but Sillinger tied it up on the power-play before assisting on Ryan Chyzowski’s power-play goal just over a minute later.  While Regina managed to go into the first intermission tied at 2 after a Ty Kolle goal, the Tigers took it to Regina in the second scoring three times and adding one more in the third.

It was the first of four games in five nights for the Pats.  They will be in Prince Albert Saturday in a 7 o’clock start (RM2) and in Moose Jaw Sunday at 4 (CKRM) before returning to the Brandt Centre for a game Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oil Kings.
