As a person gets older and more wise one begins to learn of the importance of grocery shopping lists! As I’ve gotten older I’ve learned I’m becoming a worse grocery shopper and should really take the time to come up with a list before I head to the store. The past week has especially been a struggle for me because I’ve forgotten so many darn items I need and end buying so many things I really don’t need!
In the past week and a half I’ve bought about $100 in groceries. This included ground beef, chicken burgers, fruit, vegetables, bread, cheese, etc. All things that I really didn’t require since I still had enough of that stuff in the fridge and freezer. I really needed to replenish the soap inventory including dish detergent. I needed milk, cereal, boxes of Kleenex (head cold season is coming up after all), yogurt, and sandwich meat. Did I get any of these items? NO! I’ve had to make three, yes three, separate trips to get these items. Guess what? I still haven’t got the detergent! I keep forgetting to buy it and now the dishes are piling up. Thank goodness for Lobsterfest tonight at Canadian Brewhouse. Looks like I’ll dodge doing dishes for one more night.
We have these devices now called “smartphones” that allow us to enter shopping lists so we don’t forget things at the store. Apparently I haven’t figured this out yet, but as I get older and wiser, I’m confident one day I’ll be able to go to a grocery store once and get everything I need. What a momentous day that will be!
