The struggles continued for the Regina Pats Saturday night on the road, losing their fifth straight in a 6-0 victory for the Prince Albert Raiders at the Art Hauser Centre.
Zack Hayes and Eric Pearce scored two goals in the first period for the defending champs to give the Raiders a two-goal cushion into the second period. That’s when the Pats lost control of the game.
Ozzy Wiesblatt, Brayden Watts, Kaiden Guhle and Justin Nachbaur all found the back of the net to extend Prince Albert’s lead to 6-0.
Rookie goaltender Danton Belluk had allowed five goals and made 13 saves before he was taken out of the crease. Max Paddock provided 10 saves on 11 shots in relief.
The Pats were outshot 30-13 and were unsuccessful on their four powerplay chances. Meanwhile the Raiders finished the night 1 for 2.
Now 1-5-0-0, Regina can end their losing skid against the team they have their only win against this season. The Pats play their third game in as many nights on Sunday afternoon in Moose Jaw against the Warriors.
Pre-game will be at 3:35 p.m. on 620 CKRM. Puck drop is at 4:00 p.m. from Mosaic Place.
