Harvest is underway again in Sask. after being delayed by rain and snow last week

The combines are rolling again in parts of the Saskatchewan grainbelt after being delayed by last week’s rain and snow.

The regional crop specialist in Weyburn, Sherri Roberts, says harvest is 40 to 80 percent complete in southeast Saskatchewan.

She says some farmers were harvesting wheat on the weekend and one producer highlighted weather downgrading.

She says the earlier harvested wheat is number one but newly harvested wheat is only good for livestock feed.

Roberts expects some areas to have above average yields but the weather is taking a toll.

She says farmers need three weeks of good harvest weather to wrap up combining in the southeast.
