Yesterday I rolled into my doctor’s office expecting the usual 1 hour wait just to get a couple of prescriptions filled. When I arrived I was pleasantly surprised, considering it was noon, that there were very few people seated and waiting to see their doctor.
I was even more surprised that I was greeted with a friendly face and a big smile. I can’t tell you how often that doesn’t happen. Things were looking good.
Within 10 minutes of taking my seat another pleasant lady came into the waiting room looking for James. I cringed. Although that’s my legal name, I absolutely hate it! My mom used to call me James, but only when she was mad at me. That’s how I knew I was in trouble for something. Fortunately, I wasn’t in trouble this time.
I couldn’t believe how quickly things were moving along. I only waited another five minutes before my doctor came into the office. I couldn’t have scripted this doctor appointment any better. It’s only been 15 minutes and my doctor is actually standing right in front of me?
I’ve got a great doctor. We always have a good chat and he’s got a great sense of humour. After he refilled my prescriptions and checked my blood pressure I figured I might as well get my prostate checked, seeing as I haven’t had that checked for a couple of years.
So, he slipped into a glove, lubed up, and got ready to do his business. Before he started I turned around and told him I prefer he do this without that big smile on his face! I told him the least he could have done was send me a card after the last time we did this. After he stopped laughing he got down to business.
It turned out to be a great doctor appointment. It was just the way I like it, in and out, in more ways than one!
