If you had plans to go to Leibel Field to watch the Regina Thunder meet the Winnipeg Rifles on Sunday afternoon, you can forget about it.
On Saturday night, the Thunder announced the Rifles can not get to Regina because of a snowstorm that has crippled southern Manitoba closing many highways including the Trans-Canada so the Prairie Football Conference is awarding the game to them.
It means Regina will finish the season at 6-2 and will host a PFC semi-final against the Edmonton Huskies on Sunday, October 20 at Leibel Field.
The team was going to unveil its 20th anniversary all-time team before Sunday’s game, but that ceremony has been delayed by a week with the team being named at the semi-final contest.
