Saskatchewan RCMP have confirmed a sudden death early Friday morning in the town of Battleford was a homicide.
The victim, identified as 27-year-old Ryan John Gatzke, suffered serious injuries and was transported by EMS to hospital after Battlefords RCMP arrived to a residence on the 100 block 26th Street West in Battleford.
Gatzke later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. The victim’s next of kin has been notified and have been offered victim services at this time.
An autopsy has been ordered and has been conducted by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
Police are asking anyone who was around the 100 block of 26th Street West between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. on Friday, October 18 for any information that may have been suspicious or out of the ordinary. Information could include any unfamiliar vehicles, loud noises or suspicious person or activity.
