UPDATE: Cody Fajardo’s status for Saturday is still a question mark

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released their depth chart for Saturday’s regular-season finale against Edmonton at Mosaic Stadium and it has Cody Fajardo listed as the starting quarterback.

Fajardo went down in practice Wednesday after injuring his back and did not practice Thursday sparking speculation he may not be able to play in the game which the Riders need to win to clinch first in the West for the first time since 2009.

Speaking Friday, Fajardo admitted that if the game were being played today he would not be able to go while Head Coach Craig Dickenson said he wasn’t overly optimistic about Fajardo suiting up but will wait until Saturday to make a final determination.

As for what happened when the injury occurred, Fajardo said he wasn’t doing anything unusual.

“I had thrown 20 to 30 balls before hand. “Fajardo said. “I threw a deep ball to my left to Manny (Arceneaux) and found myself on my knees on the ground. It felt like I got stabbed.”

A Riders win and they clinch first in the West for the first time since 2009 meaning a date in the Western Final against either Winnipeg or Calgary on November 17,

A loss and a Calgary win over B.C Saturday night would mean the Riders play November 10 at Mosaic in the Western Semi-Final.
