Lengthy Police Pursuit from Foam Lake to Fort Qu’Appelle

A 26 year old man is facing numerous charges after a pursuit through the eastern part of the province on Saturday night.

Wadena RCMP say they were called to a collision in Foam Lake where one driver fled. The other driver involved managed to give a description to police with that vehicle later found unoccupied. It was determined the vehicle had been stolen from Canora.

A short while later, a man matching the description of the stolen vehicle’s driver was found nearby. When asked to stop, he pulled a machete from his pants and threatened to harm himself before fleeing on foot.

A few moments later, a truck was reported stolen by someone armed with a machete with the vehicle going down Highway 16 towards Yorkton,

The vehicle was located, but attempts to stop it failed with one officer nearly being hit.

The pursuit was called off when the truck reached Yorkton city limits for safety reasons, but the suspect was spotted again trying to get gas. Another pursuit started down Highway 10 and went through Melville, Balcarres and Fort Qu’Appelle before finally coming to an end.

Tyler Severight was in court Monday facing 11 different charges including assaulting a police officer with a weapon, driving while prohibited and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
