Sask. Canola Growers are optimistic about future sales to China

Saskatchewan Canola growers are optimistic about future sales to China following the lifting of a ban on imports of Canadian beef and pork.

China has not lifted the ban on Canadian canola but SaskCanola chair Lane Stockbrugger sees the lifting of the ban on Canadian meat products as a good sign.

He says it adds optimism and is happy to again see beef and pork flowing to China.

He says the canola issue has gone to the World Trade Organization to be resolved.

China accounted for 40 percent of Canadian canola exports last year.

There is speculation the ban on Canadian canola is linked to the arrest of a Chinese business executive in Vancouver.
