Operation Red Nose a no go in Regina this holiday season

After years of serving Regina throughout the holiday season, Operation Red Nose will be a no go in the Queen City in 2019.

National Development Coordinator Marie-Chantal Fortin, said the reason for this is the lack of a local host.

“Unfortunately this year we’re not going to host our program in Regina, simply because we don’t have a local host organization in Regina,” Fortin said. “That’s really the only reason that we’re not there this year, but we’re certainly hoping that we can come back next year,” she added.

Fortin said to do that they need a non-profit local host organization to come forward.

“Basically we’re looking for a local non-profit organization in Regina, interested in hosting our road safety campaign, it’s also an interesting fundraiser for them,” said Fortin.

“If there is a host organization trying to find a new way of raising money and serving their community, we’d certainly be interested in talking with them if Operation Red Nose is something that might interest them,” Fortin said.

Operation Red Nose provides safe rides home for those celebrating staff Christmas parties or family get together over the holiday season.

The program will still operate across Canada and in Saskatoon, Prince Albert the Battlefords and Yorkton, starting this Saturday.
