Rider fans may be concerned about Cody Fajardo’s ability to play in Sunday’s West Final. But that concern does not extend to the Riders coaching staff.
Head Coach Craig Dickenson says “All signs point to (Fajardo) will be good to go.”
Thursday’s practice was closed to media and the public, as is standard. Dickenson says Fajardo looked fine.
“We had him do limited stuff,” says Dickenson. “But he was able to throw with the team, move around well.”
Wednesday Fajardo threw in public for the first time since his injury. Those were only a handful of very short passes with the offense, and some longer throwing on the side. Thursday, Fajardo took a step forward.
“I didn’t see him throw a lot of stuff but I saw intermediate to short routes,” says Dickenson. “And I think he’s going to have enough in the tank to throw a deep route.”
And with Fajardo being the CFL’s top-rated passer on deep balls this season (116.1 passer rating), that is great news for the Riders.
“He certainly looked like he was able to do what he needed to do to help the offense move the ball,” says Dickenson.
The Blue Bombers have concerns about one of their quarterbacks–Chris Streveler. Streveler did not practice with the team for a second straight day. Reportedly he is dealing with a broken foot–one that he played on effectively in Sunday’s West Semifinal.
