Unifor and the Saskatchewan Crown Corporations have ratified new collective agreements.
SaskTel, SaskEnergy, SaskPower, SaskWater and the Water Security Agency have come up with new contracts with Unifor employees that include raises over the next six years.
“Unifor members took historic action to get a contract they deserve,” said Jerry Dias, Unifor National President. “Solidarity was key to their success and they should be proud of what they accomplished together.”
Nearly 5,000 Unifor members working at Crown corporations were on strike between September 30 and October 19.
The ratified agreement at SaskTel provides a monetary package of 5 percent over five years and includes:
1st year – 0 percent
2nd year – 0 percent
3rd year – 1 percent
4th year – 2 percent
5th year – 2 percent
The ratified six-year agreements at SaskEnergy, SaskWater, and SaskPower provide a monetary package of 7 percent over six years as follows:
1st year – 0 percent
2nd year – 0 percent
3rd year – 1 percent
4th year – 2 percent
5th year – 2 percent
6th year – 2 percent
The ratified six-year agreement at the WSA provides a 6 percent increase in annual wages over six years with an additional one per cent increase in pension:
1st year – 0 percent
2nd year – 0 percent
3rd year – 1 percent
4th year – 1 percent, 1 percent pension increase
5th year – 2 percent
6th year – 2 percent
The province adds that to acknowledge that employees experienced hardship during the 17-day labour disruption, active-full time employees at SaskTel, SaskEnergy, SaskPower, SaskWater will receive four days’ pay and full time employees who worked in essential positions during the strike will receive a pro-rated number of days pay.
Provincial Finance Minister Donna Harpauer stated Saskatchewan believes the agreements are fair and provide long-term stability for both the employees and crowns.
